The Council on Aging of Central Oregon offers free, unbiased Medicare assistance through trained counselors, part of Senior Health Insurance Benefits Assistance (SHIBA). Whether you’re enrolling at 65 or exploring options as a current enrollee, our dedicated volunteers can help you understand your benefits, compare health plans, and avoid overpaying for care and prescriptions. You can meet with a SHIBA counselor in person or by phone to get answers to your Medicare questions, including:

  • Medicare Part A and Part B
  • Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage (Medicare Part D)
  • Medicare Supplement Insurance (Medigap)
  • Medicare Advantage Plans (HMOs and PPOs)
  • Long-term care insurance
  • Medicare Savings Programs (QMB, SLMB and QI)
  • Prescription drug assistance programs or drug discount cards offered by your state and pharmaceutical companies
  • Medicaid and other insurance programs (including free or reduced-fee health care programs)

To schedule your appointment, call (541) 678-5483. Our SHIBA counselors can offer appointments in Spanish using the Language Link translation service. Leave a message with your name and city and we will get back to you to set up an appointment.
